- Proconsul africanus: an ancestor of both apes and early humans that lived about 25 million years ago
- 1959- Discovered Zinjanthropus; the skull of an early hominin (member of the human lineage) at Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania
- Started to work with the Kamoya Kimeu more after husband passed away
- Trained him in paleontology, how to use certain classifying systems, and excavating strategies (became well-known anthropologist and trained next generations of fossil finders)
- 1976-1981- Uncovered the Laetoli hominin footprint trail (tracked through a layer of volcanic ash from 3.6 million years ago)
